Here’s my day-to-day account of our 3-day trip to the North:
Day One: April 13, Friday
We departed for San Fernando, La Union at about 6 am aboard my grandparents’ Crosswind to join TIta Ces’s office outing. Aboard the vehicle were Tito Nol and Tita Ces, my mom, my two cousins Les and Arielle, my li’l bro Gelo and sis Gia, Tito Ton, and me!! Oh, and there’s Tita Ces’s officemate Tito Neil.
We went past Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Pangasinan then arrived at San Fernando at around 3. We even got to pass by the Isdaan at Tarlac. It’s that resto featured in TV segments were they have that popular Taksiyapo Wall, where you throw stuff at the wall while shouting ‘Taksiyapo!‘ when you’re mad at someone. On the way there, Les, Gelo and I, who were sitting at the backseats of the Crosswind, laughed at the people we went past by. We waved to a bus driver and a triycle driver at San Fernando. They laughed back and they waved back and did some funny antics.
We stayed at the PPA rest house after a 5-hour drive and had it all almost to ourselves for a couple of hours. My bro, sis, two couz, tito and me swam and the beach for hours until night came. We ate dinner then sang some songs at the videoke till we got sleepy.
Day Two: April 14, Saturday
My mom woke me up so I could swim again! Yesterday was a high tide, but then it became low tide today!! We swam, along with Tita’s officemates who arrived late last night. It was a lot of fun. Tito Ton and I fished around the beach for dead eels that were floating dead at the bottom of the seabed, and snorkeled at a shallow site with striped fishes and a black fish. I stopped for a while and stayed at the shore, where one of Tita’s officemates fished out a dead jelly fish. I wanted to dissect it, but Gelo go to do it first. Sea creatures are very facsinating.
We then got to a one-hour drive to Baguio via Naguilian Road. I fell asleep because the trip was nauseating. When I woke up, we were already in Baguio. The chilled air touched our faces, since the windows of the car were open. We checked in at Venus Parkview Hotel, like we did the last time we were in Baguio. We strolled around at Session Road after praying at the Baguio Cathedral near SM Baguio. Then we went to their famous ukay-ukay shops. THere were lots of nice items, but we didn’t buy anything; it was kinda expensieve.
Night time came, and we went to Burnham Park and went cycling. There were some boys who tried to catch my attention thrice (??), but I ignored them. The nighttime Baguio air was quite chilly, so I bought a nice, warm, electric blue knit jacket. After cycling, we went back to the hotel.
Day Three: April 15, Sunday
I was one of the last people to wake up. Gelo told me that steam came out of their mouths when they got up early morning. So after that, Tito Ton, Gelo, Les and me went to Burnham park, which was only a walking distance from the hotel, and bought souvenirs for ourselves and friends, then took lots of pics.
We went to the Tam-Awan village where there were houses from ethnic groups. We got lost a lot of times on the way there, and had to ask directions from the locals. But it was all worth the lost directions. Then we went to SM Baguio. It was open, and very cool. It was the topmost building in Baguio, and you could see a brilliant view of Baguio from there.
We checked out of the hotel around 12 noon, then headed to Camp John Hay, We drove around there, and took lots of pics. There were a lot of tourists there, picnicking; having birthday parties; having tours; and just enjoying the lush areas where you could enjoy nature and the pine trees. Then, we drove to PMA. There were trainees around and sites were tourists could take pics. There were also decomissioned tanks and weapons there! And, the PMA was a large compund that it was like being in a city within a city.
After that, and eating at Session Road’s Steaks and Toppings, we went on a 6-and-a-half drive back to Manila.
It was so much fun!!! I wish to live in Baguio if I could. The City of Pines and Strawberries was very interesting, and the people there were very polite and courteous!
